Clones safe for eating?

Wanna eat a cloned animal? You may not even know that you're eating it.
Not sure how I really feel about that. There are some interesting comments at the original site however.
There are just too many ethical and other issues to just say that it's ok without some further thought. Of course, I'm sure from a scientific point of view, it isn't immediately dangerous to anyone who consumes it, but it just doesn't seem right.

Waiting on the end of the year

Each year, I have to stay late at work to perform end of year maintenance on our systems. Well, this year, I get to do it on Friday and will have new years eve off. Party!
Well, probably not, since babysitters are rare that night but still will be nice to watch the ball drop for once.

Damn snow in Denver

The snow in Denver before Christmas didn't screw up enough travel plans, now it's done it again. Hard to imagine considering we haven't gotten any snow at all up here.

Go Big or Go Home

Sometimes you win. My NFL picks this week were exceptionally good. Not quite perfect enough to win the whole shebang but enough to tie for 64th out of several thousand for the week.

Best outing so far this year I believe. Almost got me back in the running for the year end prize. Almost.

Still need to make up 38 points this week and only made up 28 with the big week this week, so not much chance.

Blogger finally left beta

The new blogger finally left beta. Finally.

Still doesn't work for Digg this function on Digg however. Too bad too.
Really liked that function. Turned this site into a personal bookmark stream.

Hopefully they will fix that soon.

One year for A Penny Saved

A Penny Saved is approaching it's one year anniversary. Yay! It really doesn't seem like it's been all that long, but it really has.
I've had a lot of fun developing that site and creating a small community as well.
Maybe another few years to go? Hard to tell, but we'll see.

Dabbling

I've been doing a little bit of dabbling in the arbitrage movement. So far, I'm a big loser at it though. Spent much more than I've brought in and have little to nothing to show for it.

Sad. Much to learn have I.

How many hours a frame for Pixar's Cars?

You've got to be kidding me.
Answer: D. The average Cars frame took 15 hours, despite a 300x overall increase in compute power. The artists have an essentially infinite appetite for detail and realism, and Pixar's resources have grown over the decade so it can afford to allocate more computers to the task, allowing each to run longer to achieve the artist's and animator's ambitions for the scenes.
15 hours per frame. As a reference, Toy Story took two hours to render a frame. I guess we know why the movie looks so smooth, but it it really necessary when you're creating a animated movie? If we were expecting a realistic animated movie, I would understand but cars?
anywho...
